Matt Heiser Named Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students
Dr. Matt Heiser has been named Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at Endicott College, effective January 6. This appointment follows the departure of Marlin Nabors to the University of Pittsburgh and comes after comprehensive discussions with the department’s staff, which highlighted the strength of talent within the Student Affairs team.
Since joining Endicott in 2021, Heiser has served as Director of Residence Life, Associate Dean of Students, and an adjunct faculty member, teaching in the undergraduate honors program and the School of Education’s Ed.D. and Ph.D. programs. As the former Associate Dean of Students at Endicott, he oversaw Community Standards, Residence Life, and the Wellness Center. He currently co-leads the College’s Working Parents and Caregivers Employee Resource Group.
“Matt’s leadership is shaped by a rich professional history and a deep commitment to our students and mission,” said Bryan Cain, Senior Vice President of Student and External Engagement. “His vision and expertise will undoubtedly build on Marlin’s legacy and lead us forward.”
Heiser’s professional background includes positions at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he first worked alongside Nabors. His academic credentials—an Ed.D. from Northeastern University, an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Suffolk University, and a B.S. from Gettysburg College—reflect his passion for education and research.
Notably, Heiser’s doctoral research focused on strategies to reduce employee burnout, offering valuable insights for Student Affairs and Human Resources leadership. He also brings expertise in supporting first-generation college students, fostering student leadership, and enhancing bystander intervention training.
Heiser’s student-centered approach aligns with Endicott’s values, and his leadership is expected to further enrich the campus community and elevate the student experience.
