La Chanterelle’s 30th celebration wasn’t all about food and drink—it was a moment to laud School of Hospitality Management Chair Peter Jenner, a faithful steward of hospitality education and real-world training, with the launch of a campaign to endow a scholarship in his name.
And can you believe it was all a big secret?
Taking to the podium, La Chanterelle General Manager Ryan Blodgett gave a brief introduction ahead of the announcement, taking care first to disclaim that no, Jenner was not retiring, and he also had no idea what was about to take place.
“Now, I think almost every person in this room has been mentored and inspired by this person,” said Blodgett, who then announced that $8,000 of $50,000 had been raised in the Peter Jenner ’97 M’00 ’02 Hospitality Scholarship.
“Honored and humbled beyond words,” said Jenner as he took the microphone. “We have a long-standing tradition of hospitality on campus and, with your generosity, it will continue.”
