Brian Murphy

Brian Murphy is a multi-disciplinary artist whose creative output includes sculpture, mixed media, furniture, and painting. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, he has worked in the advertising and commercial art world for over 33 years, earning design awards along the way.

Very active in the Beverly and North Shore communities he is a past president and longtime member of the Beverly Rotary Club, past president of St. Vincent dePaul Society, board member of Good Friday Walk, board member of Fischer and Fuel Society of Beverly, North Shore Chamber of Commerce, ambassador and former board member of Beverly Youth Hockey as well as coach for many youth sports teams. He has also donated his time and talents to Beverly Main Streets and many other Beverly committees and organizations.

Combining love of sculpture and painting, his art uses wood, found objects, metals, and anything else he can get his hands on to repurpose an object bringing it new life seen in a different way. Creating mixed media sculptures that include anything from old pipes, discarded hardware, and many other found objects, that when put together, beg the viewer to guess what this piece, or that, was in a previous life. His painting work captures light, shadow and how it transforms the surface to give the subject volume and an overall soothing feel. He has done many commissions in various mediums as well. His art can be found in private and public collections across the country.
