Endicott College Archives History Assets


When was the first Endicott College student newspaper published? 

On March 8, 1940 the first student newspaper was published. The editor was Betty Barletta ’41 with the assistance of reporters Anne Fisher ’41 and Georgina Creo ’41. The newspaper, three pages in length was called Endicott Junior. The opening sentence of the newspaper state “ Hooray! At last we have a newspaper of our own.” During the past 74 years the student newspaper has grown, changed in format and name, with the current newspaper called Endicott Observer with a student writing staff of 16 and editorial board of 5, running 16 pages in length with color photographs.
