I went into the program hoping to grow as an educator. However, I received much more than that. I grew and changed as a person and also as an artist. I am excited to continue learning, growing and exploring the world of art, as a person and as a member of an ever-changing society.

As educators, leaders, artists, therapists, administrators, museum directors, or engineers, students bring a broad range of skills and talents to their studies. That, together with a wide range of art mediums which includes visual arts, creative movement, storytelling, drama, and voice and music, creates a stimulating, dynamic, vital learning environment.
Multi-disciplinary students, with varying degrees of creative experience, including those with little or no formal training, immerse themselves in their own art experiences in order to understand how to facilitate learning and the creative process in others. This discovery model of learning challenges students in risk-taking and exploratory learning which is grounded in theories of multi-cultural learning and multiple intelligence.
This innovative, hands-on program provides students with stimulating instructors who are experienced at facilitating a collaborative learning environment and using creative process as a learning methodology. Within a highly supportive, spirited, collaborative environment, each individual student's potential for learning is uniquely considered and encouraged.
An important component of the program is the immediate and on-going application of learning in work or volunteer settings. Students develop a greater understanding of the theory, practice and power of creative process, both as a learning tool and methodology and as an effective agent for change and growth. Students develop enhanced skills for utilizing the arts (music, movement, drama, poetry, visual arts, story telling, digital arts) through arts-based research and in the development of curriculum, treatment approaches, leadership skills, and community development.
The Arts and Learning program is a dynamic and energizing preparation for teachers in education settings, it is also vital for those in therapeutic disciplines, museums, community programs, leadership roles, and anyone who values the role of imagination and creativity in learning.
The program is not linked to Massachusetts Teacher Licensure.
