Modern Band Project in Concert – Sounds Eclectic

    11/08/2011

The Modern Band Project Beverly - The Modern Band Project, directed by Professor Brian Fitzpatrick, explores rock, pop, world, jazz, country, jam band, and original compositions by students on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rose Performance Hall, Center for the Arts, Endicott College, 376 Hale Street, Beverly. General admission is $5 and donations are accepted.

Student musicians in this concert will perform covers by Fleetwood Mac, Grace Potter, The Script, The Rolling Stones, and others. Several students' original songs will also be performed. The Modern Band project began this semester as an alternate form of Endicott College's Jazz Band. Students were excited to try their skills at other styles, and the results have been exciting, according to Fitzpatrick.

"It is great to hear students collaborating on music they really love," he said. "They work together to bring each others' artistic visions to life, and it sounds great."

With about 15 performers, the band features vocalists, guitarists and drummers. Several members of the group live locally, including Nathan Lafata, guitarist, of Gloucester, MA; Amanda Beveridge, vocalist, of Lawrence, MA; Barry Indaco, guitarist and vocalist, of Andover, MA; Kyle Giroux, guitarist, of Dracut, MA; and Zach Conner Smith, drummer, of Beverly, MA.

Endicott College students have opportunities to explore their interests in dance, music and theatre. The School of Visual and Performing Arts sponsors the Jazz Band, Dance Ensemble, Endicott Singers, the student a cappella group ECHO, Rock Band, and the Chamber Ensemble. Furthermore the School maintains special relationships with the Boston Ballet, Boston Children's Theatre and Symphony by the Sea.

Admission is $5 for General admission and free for Endicott College ID holders. Reserve tickets at Center for the Arts or by leaving a message at the box office at (978) 998-7700.
