Amanda Beard is an illustrator and designer from Beverly, Massachusetts. She received her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2012 and has since been working full-time at Endicott College as Staff Assistant for the School of Visual and Performing Arts. Amanda’s work has recently been exhibited at The Center on the Common, Harvard, MA; the Walter J. Manninen Center for the Arts at Endicott College, Beverly, MA; Visionspace Gallery, Lynn, MA; Studios at Porter Mill, Beverly, MA; and Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators, New York, NY.
Ms. Beard states, “My work is reminiscent of after-school cartoons and video games of the late 90's, those which encouraged very dedicated relationships to imaginary cohorts. I spent a lot of time invested in the animal-like characters that were fabricated to grow with my generation: charming, whimsical, and capable of existing seamlessly alongside humans. “
The Art Club is a student run organization with faculty advisors. This is the first of many exhibitions this year to highlight up and coming artists, established artists, as well as a call to artists from our school. The Art Club students are in charge of facilitating all aspects of running a gallery from start to finish including the reception. It is a great learning experience for the students to work with both student and emerging artists.
