The Department of Academic Technology at Endicott College is comprised of several areas, the campus computer labs, laptop program support, mediated and "Smart" classrooms, Media Services, GullNet, the campus web portal/ Learning Management System, Blackboard Collaborate, a real-time online learning environment and The Scangas Digital Media Center. All are designed to promote and support more effective teaching and learning through the use of technology. Academic Technology staff provides Endicott faculty, staff and students with workshops, training and support in the use of various software programs, web tools, digital media and audio/video production technologies.
Computer Labs
Endicott College has a total of 3 PC, 2 Mac and one mixed platform full computer labs, a Cyber Cafe open 24 x7, several special purpose mini labs for individual departments located throughout the campus plus many computer workstations scattered throughout the library. Media Services
Media Services provides the campus AV services including video production, editing, media duplication and the campus digital signage. They support the Scangas Center for Media and Learning, as well as the Smart and mediated classrooms. Media Services also delivers, sets up and signs out laptop computers, portable LCD projectors, TV and VCR carts, DVD players, audio equipment, slide and overhead projectors, digital cameras and other AV equipment to the campus community.For more information about Media Services, please visit their web page.
The Scangas Center for Media and Learning
The Scangas Center for Media and Learning is Endicott's multimedia center that encompasses a videoconferencing and multimedia presentation classroom, HD video production studio and 5 multimedia-editing suites. The Center's resources include the Broadcast Pix digital production studio, a Telvue media storage and distribution server, Webus digital messaging system, as well as portable digital video cameras, digital non-linear video and audio editing workstations, professional lighting and audio recording equipment. Workshops and individual training sessions are offered throughout the academic year.
GullNet
GullNet is Endicott's web portal and Learning Management System (LMS). GullNet is essentially an online web tool that allows faculty, students and staff to collaborate and communicate in a variety of ways for courses and other approved campus departments and groups. Handouts, documents and files of just about any type, can be posted to GullNet by faculty or administrators for access and download by students and others. Additionally, Forums or Threaded Discussions where faculty, staff and students can post topics and responses for discussion can take place 24x7. Chat rooms, online quizzes, tests and other coursework and assignments, as well as announcements and online grading are also part of the GullNet portal and LMS. Workshops and Training
Academic Technology workshops for faculty, students and staff are offered throughout the academic year on a variety of learning technologies, including Smart classrooms, digital media technologies, GullNet- the college's portal and Learning Management System and Blackboard Collaborate- the college's web conferencing/ virtual classroom technology. Schedules are posted each semester.
Laptops
